Place a plexiglass sheet on large pan and place on the middle oven rack. The large pan prevents the plexiglass from coming into contact with the hot rack, which can distort the plexiglass due to uneven heating.
Jun 04, 2005· I wish you luck in thermoforming Lexan, or any polycarbonate over a compound surface mold. I think you will have the best luck with thicker material, which might be best for your surfboard, since polycarbonate is very very hard to hold at the correct temperature when forming.

Jun 28, 2015· Lexan needs more heat than most plastics, needs to be pre-dried, it chills quicker than others, and doesn't get as soft and squishy when hot. Its just plain harder to vacuum form. Here's a quick Lexan forming tutorial:-- Use really new fresh sheets, or pre-dry at 200-225 for an hour to a day depending on sogginess factor.
Less RPM is always better, since heat causes the plexiglass to melt and grab the bit, which eventually leads to shattering. When do it on a mill, I give it something around 300-400 RPM, which, most of the time, doesn't even require a pilot hole if you go slow.
